Home Episode Summaries Season 1 Captives of Cobra: Part II

"Hey, let's keep this thing on the road! I left my wings at home."
- Tripwire (to Gung Ho as the ATV skids to the edge of a cliff)

As the family members of Quick Kick, Scarlett, Shipwreck, Barbecue, Spirit and Thunder stand in the road, Scarlett tells Duke about Cobra's use of their family members as soldiers. Duke asks if she can stop Cobra and as she tells Duke that their families won't shoot at them, the Baroness, who is flying in Cobra's helicarrier with Tomax and Xamot, watches Scarlett on a monitor and tells her, "That's what you think, dearie."

Scarlett climbs off her Silver Mirage Motorcycle and asks her brothers and father to put down their guns. As the other Joes begin to ask the same of their loved one, the Baroness orders Dr. Marx to increase the mind control power. The Cobra doctor raises the level to the "max load" level and the once struggling family members are completely under Cobra's control. Just as Jesse is about shoot Shipwreck, Quick Kick tackles Shipwreck to the ground to prevent his teammate from being shot.

The Joes retreat as their families shoot at them and Duke orders Gung Ho, who is in the rear section of the ATV with Tripwire, to drive the ATV away and to take route B, which is a very rocky road, according to Lady Jaye. Duke realizes the road is quite bumpy, however, the Joes need to buy Scarlett and the others time to stop their families.

Before the ATV turns onto the rocky road, Spirit explains on a wristwatch communicator that the captives are trying to resist but "a greater power" controls their minds. Duke tells Scarlett to stop their families and then wishes the Joes good luck as he begins to ride along the bumpy dirt trail. While the Baroness orders her unwilling slaves to move faster, Gung Ho readies the cannons so that he can blast his way through some boulders which have blocked the ATV's path.

Tripwire stops Gung Ho by warning him of the crystals, and Gung Ho reluctantly agrees. Therefore, he drives over the rocks. But the rubble below begins to crumble and the ATV slides toward a cliff. "Hey!" Tripwire shouts. "Let's keep this thing on the road. I left my wings at home."

As Scarlett radios Wild Bill that they are going try to use knockout gas to stop the captives, she asks that he stand by. The Joes don gas masks and shoot knockout gas at the captives, however, the suits are hermetrically sealed. Under fire from their familes, the Joes climb onto their motorcycles and drive off in an attempt to lead the captives away from Duke and the others. The Baroness orders the captives to ignore the Joes on the bikes and to follow the ATV, which has continued to slip down the unstable road. Sliding to the edge of the road, Gung Ho and Tripwire watch the radioactivity gauge monitoring the explosive crystals approach the lethal red zone. Then, slowly, the needle swings back down to the safe area.

A small drop of sweat trickles down the side of Duke's face and Duke asks if Gung Ho can drive over the large rocks on the road. "Well, if I don't, you can kiss that ten bucks I owe you good-bye." As Gung Ho successfully begins to drive over the boulders, Duke replies, "Keep the ten bucks, pal. You just earned 'em."

Quick Kick and the other Joes stand on a road and watch Wild Bill drop a net on their families. The Joes gather the ends of the net and attach the rings on the corners of the net onto a hook and wench attached to Wild Bill's Dragonfly. As their family members are carried away, Shipwreck shouts at Wild Bill to take care of them, and Wild Bill tells everyone that he will just rock them to sleep as if they were in a cradle. Expressing his relief and trying to comfort Scarlett, Shipwreck places a hand on Scarlett's shoulder and all of the Joes watch Wild Bill fly away.
